Can the Pacers take the Heat.

I know everything is focused on the heat with them winning 12 straight games, but my favorite from the east when it comes to playoff time is the Pacers. With David West and Paul George having all star years and just receiving their best player back from injury I would say this team with the great chemistry that they have could and I think will beat the heat in the playoffs. Also Roy Hibbert and George Hill is having a great year and the Pacers have won 5 straight. I would have this team in my top 4 maybe top 3.

Pre-Season MLB Play Well Under Way

Like all other sports, pre-season  play doesn't determine or even really mean anything. Its just a time for teams to warm up, Coaches to determine which players to release, and fans to get ready for the long 162 game season. Although it won't mean anything a few shinning moments have stood out. Such as the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Chiefs, both sitting at 5-0 due to shutdown pitching put behind the speed offense that both teams have shown early. Then you have the L.A. Angels and the Texas Rangers who are both are win-less. Neither of those team will perform that bad during the regular season

Knicks win but Curry Explodes

Last night the Warriors took on the Knicks in NYC in Kenyon Martin's first game as a Knick (he was signed as a free agent after the all-star break). Although it was Stephon Curry's night to shine, he exploded for an astonishing 54 point performance while hitting 11-13 on his 3-point tries. He also added 6 boards, 7 assists, and a respectable 3 steals. 54 points is a career high for Curry and a season high for the league. On the other side Tyson Chandler recorded a career high and season high for the league with 28 boards, he also added 16 points. Carmelo Anthony had a good game wit 35 points and 8 assists. JR Smith also had 26 points off the bench. Overall tonight was a great game but the Knicks took the W 109-105.

Answer

The player was L.A. Clippers SF Caron Butler.

Smith To Chiefs

Alex Smith has been traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. I am not surprised by this as the 49ers have been looking for trade options for Smith. This obviously means their sticking with their young and athletic quarterback (Colin Kaepernik) that came in the middle of the season (When Smith got hurt) and brought them to a Superbowl. In return for Smith the 49ers get a second round pick and between a 3-5 round pick in 2014. I hope Smith and the Chiefs do well this year and hopefully they won't come in last place this year.

Still Hot in Miami

Last night Miami won their 12th straight in a 2OT thriller. The Heat blew away the Kings in a 5-17 2nd OT. Demarcus Cousins had 24 and 15 in the Kings loss, but LBJ stole the show with 40 pts, 8 boards, and 16 assists. D-Wade also chipped in 39 points, 8 boards, and 7 assists.

Brady's Extension

The New England Patriots and Tom Brady have made a deal that will keep him playing through the 2016 season. The extension was 3 years and worth 27 million dollars. He will be 38 years old in the last year of that contract. Will he still be an elite quarterback even at that old age? I don't think so.A perfect example is Brett Farve, he played when he was about that age and he was not very good. I am going to say that the Pats wont go to another Super Bowl with Brady's aging body.

Syracuse vs Marquette

Last night 12 Syracuse and 22 Marquette had a huge Big East matchup. This weekend both teams came off a loss Marquette to Villanova and Syracuse to Georgetown. Both teams were hungry for a win. After they were ahead in the first half Syracuse could not hold on to the lead and Marquette came back and beat them 74-71.Gardner had 26 points and 8 rebounds as he came up big for Marquette.

Blackhawks Make History!

The Chicago Blackhawks make history as for two games ago they went 14-0-3. They have never lost in regulation time. They are now 16-0-3 in their game. A new record was made as they go undefeated. The Blackhawks are on fire! Marrian Hossa won the game last night as they defeated the Oilers in OT.

Danica Patrick makes history

Danica Patrick was the first female poll sitter and the first female to lead a lap in NASCAR history. She ended up in 8th place. Jimmie Johnson won the race.

Curtis Grandy out

Curtis Granderson of the New York Yankees recently broke his fore arm after getting hit by a pitch. He is most likely going to miss a good ten weeks before he can return. This will be a problem for the Yankees as they have a old Derek Jeter set to return in March and A-Rod who has been slumping and has not been playing his best game lately. I think that because of this the Yankees will start of slow and when they get all of their key players back they will return to the elite team that we all know.

Who is the NBA's best team? Are the Heat too Hot to Handle?

The Miami Heat are currently on a 9 game winning streak and they play they Philadelphia 76ers on the 23rd and the Cavs on the 24th. James as you know has been phenomenal as of late. He is averaging 27.2 points, 7 assists, and 8.2 boards per game and an incredible 31.63 PER (player efficiency rating[an average PER is 15 and the highest of all time during one season 31.84 by Wilt Chamberlain]). But are they the best team in the L?

Suns trade Telfair

Involved in the Thomas Robinson trade the Suns are trading away. Now they have traded G Sebastian Telfair. Telfair was traded to the Toronto Raptors for the one and only Hamed Haddadi and a second round draft pick. The Suns have been very aggressive so far in the last hours until the trading deadline.

Thomas Robinson traded

The Sacramento Kings have traded their #5 pick to the Houston Rockets. Thomas Robinson was traded with Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt to the Rockets in exchange for Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich,  Toney Douglas, and some cash ($1million). The Suns got into the trade to by trading their 2nd round draft pick for Marcus Morris from the Rockets. Now Marcus will be joined with his twin brother Markeiff on the court. This trade could get the Rockets to be a very good playoff contender over the next few years. With a developing Robinson he could turn out to be one of the leagues top big men.

NBA Scores

Last night there were plenty of great NBA games to watch. The Thunder took on Houston, Boston played their rival Lakers, and the Nets played the Bucks.

The first game of the night was Detroit playing the Bobcats. The Pistons handled them and won 105-99. The Knicks got hammered by the Pacers 91-125. Melo played only 28 mins and got only 15 points on 33% shooting. Paul George had 27 on the night and added 8 boards. The Grizzlies also downed the Raptors 88-82. The Rockets played the Thunder last night and Harden dropped a career high 46 points in 44 minutes, on 7-8 3 point shooting! He also added 8 boards and 6 assists. Durant had a triple double with 16 points, 12 boards, and 11 assists. Sefolosha had a career high 28 on the night, but the Rockets held on to win 122-119. The Heat handled the Hawks last night with a final of 103-90.

The Bucks lost in a tight one 97-94 although Joe Johnson only had 8 points and Jennings dropped 31 the Nets still got the W. The T-Wolves surprisingly came out on top 87-94 against a Bynum-less 76ers squad. The Cavs prevailed 105-100 against the Hornets. Kyrie Irving had only 7 points in the first half but ended with a game high 35. The Mavericks downed the Magic 96-111. The Celtics played their rival the LA Lakers and ended up losing 99-113 a couple days after Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss' death. Pierce had a good night scoring 26 points. But it was Steve Nash and the Lakers night. Dwight Howard had 24 points and 12 boards, Nash had 14 points and 7 assists but he passed Magic Johnson to become 4th on the all-time assists list. The Warriors beat the Suns 108-98 in the last game of the night. Last night was an action packed evening.

Boston Red Sox

Boston Redsox
Last year was a blowout for the Boston Redsox as they went 69-93 and finished last in their division. This year wont be much better as they haven't acquired the kind of players they need to be one of the best again. They also have an about 750 games where their stadium was packed, I expect that to stop very quickly.

The smalls taking over

This weekend the smalls took over. Kyrie Irving got 23 points in the championship round for the 3 point contest and beat Matt Bonner. In the Dunk Contest little man Terrence Ross owned and beat 2012 dunk winner Jeremy Evans. He had a awesome dunk in tribute to Vince Carter. In the all star game Chris Paul had a great game as he was the MVP. He had 20 points and 15 assists. He also led the west to go on to beat the  east. Also in celeb game Kevin Hart was the mvp as he is a mere 5'2" tall.

  2. He has won the all-star weekend celebrity game MVP twice
  3. He scored 13 combined points in 2 years.

Baltimore Orioles

This is the first team that I will be analyzing for my team analysis. This is a good team so it will be posted on the Home page and MLB page.

Baltimore Orioles: Last Year was a great year for the Orioles as they were a surprising team and ended up making the playoffs. We haven't heard much from these guys from the off-season so my thought is they are very happy with there team and want to try again for a World Series Title.

Starting Pitching: 3/5- There really not any superstar pitchers on this team but there are some reliable pitchers on there team that can and will be able to go 6+ innings and give up 1-2 runs.

Bullpen 4/5- There bullpen if decently good but if they have to go in at inning 4 that's where there might be a few problems. But if their starting pitchers hold up and go 6+ innings like I said above there are going to win a lot of games, especially with a veteran in Jim Johnson who saved 51 games last season.

Fielding 3.5/5- With them bringing in an veteran Cassilla who is pretty good in defense, plus with their star center fielder Adam Jones, I don't see them making too many errors.

Hitting 4.5/5- They have got some explosive bats on this offense. With Adam Jones putting up some good numbers, to Matt Wieters getting a hot bat at the end of the season. Also watch out for Machado who was their rookie 3rd baseman last year, he will steal a lot of base and probably not hit a lot of homeruns. They also have J.J Hardy who is an all around hitter who can have a good bat bat at times

Overall 4/5- This year will be an amazing year for the Orioles the one problem they might have is that bullpen there starting pitchers will really need to go at least 5 for a good performance from their pen.

NBA All-Star Weekend

Woodson Gone?

Charles Woodson is reportedly going to get dropped by the Packers., This is very shocking to me as I would have thought Woodson was going to finish his career in Green Bay. Charles missed 9 games last season because of a broken collarbone that happened back when the Packers had played the Cardinals. If this becomes true, I would think that they would draft another S/CB. Charles Woodson still has a good year or two in him and will probably not retire. We will be losing another great player that has been loyal to the team throughout his career. Woodson ended up playing in the 2 playoff games that we have played. I will be monitoring this to see if anything happens or if this is a true statement.

MLB

Hey guys I will be doing a series which I will be grading each team on: Bullpen, Starting Pitching, Fielding, Hitting, and how I think they will do in the regular season. I will be posting this on the MLB page but for some of the bigger teams I will be posting it on the home page too. I will try to post at least 1 every weekday if not 2 if I miss a day. This will start on Monday. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend

Super Early MLB predictions

In the American League East I expect the Yankees to have an up-and-down season, all season long as the Baltimore Orioles take the division. I also expect the Red Sox to have a bounce back season but still miss the playoffs coming out in a close 3rd or 4th for the division just in front of the Yankees but behind the off season stars so far in the Toronto Blue Jays who I think have a great rebuilding season but just miss and come in on 3rd or 4th. Tampa Bay Rays will take 2nd and get the second wild card spot.

Kyle Lohse still available!

Kyle Lohse is still somehow without a contract as he has shown nothing but improvement in the last few years.  Lohse is expected to find a contact soon, though a number of teams linked to the right-hander are seemingly distancing themselves.  My recommended teams for Lohse are the Rangers, Mariners, Padres and Indians would all be good fits for Lohse. Although with Lohse's projected value being so high most teams would have to give up a draft pick to get the money to sign him. While basically the only good free agent left in Michael Bourn just got picked up by the Indians, questions are rising as to see when Kyle Lohse will finally get signed. Whoever picks up this 35 year old star will surely be a lucky one.

Athlete of the Day

1. He was recently traded.

2. In the 2004-05 season, he was the only rookie in the league and only player on his team to get a triple double.

3. In his second season, he shot 50% from the floor while averaging 12.3 points per game.

4. Some people might consider him a SF.

LeBron's streak snapped

LeBron's amazing streak of 30 points on 60% shooting in 6 straight games was snapped last night. This is a record setting streak and it helped the Heat get some W's on the way. Last night they defeated the Thunder by 10 (110-100)behind 39 points, 12 boards, 7 assists, and 2 steals from James, but he ONLY shot 58.3%. Last night Wesbrook and Durant did their thing for a combined total of 66 points (40 for Durant), 13 boards, and 14 assists, but it wasn't enough to stop LBJ and the Heat who rolled over the Thunder by ten, although the streak was snapped.

College Basketball

Last night #2 Duke defeated North Carolina 73-68. P.J. Hariston had 23 points for the heels, but it wasn't enough to push them over the hump. Additionally Wisconsin native J.P. Tokoto only played 3 minutes in this rivalry game. Mason Plumlee had 18 points and 11 boards.

UCONN topped #6 Syracuse 66-58, Brandon Triche had a terrible night, he scored 9 points on 3-15 shooting including 0-7 from 3-point land. Cuse shot 35.4% as a squad and 17.4% from 3. UCONN on the other hand shot 8-14 from 3 (57.1%), and 46.7% from the field. Shabazz Napier had 10 points and 7 assists for the Huskies. UCONN got a good win last night.
#1 Indiana rolled past Nebraska 76-47. While #3 Miami taking on Florida State was anything but a blowout. Miami won 74-68 in the end after they sunk 3-4 free throws to end the game. Shane Larkin had 22 points on 9-15 shooting last night. Miami shot 63.8% as a team. This was a fairly sloppy game, with 33 total turnovers committed.

Nerlens Noel

Last night Nerlens Noel tore his ACL and is now out for the year. This causes people to question the NBA's one and done rule. Some say that players should be able to come right out of high school and this case just proves that point. Nerlens could be earning a paycheck right now and he wouldn't have to worry. I think that the NBA should allow players to come right out of high school because that would then create less one and done players in college.

Josh Smith to be traded?

There have been many speculations that Josh Smith may be traded. This is very surprising news because he has just become the teams leader. The Nets are the team that are showing the most interest. As of right now the Nets would offer Kris Humphries and Marshon Brooks. The Spurs are also interested in Josh Smith, but there is no information on who they would offer as of now. Smith is currently averaging 17.1 points, 8.6 boards, 4 ASTs, 2.1 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. Whichever team gets Josh Smith will be a lucky one, because he will improve their athleticism across the board he will also bring a little youth and flair.

D-Rose still far from return

D-Rose has been taking full contact practices but he says he is still 80%. He also said he will come back when he is 110% and he doesn't know when that will be. As of now don't expect him to be ready to play this season.

Michael Vick

Michael Vick signed a 1 year $10 million deal. This is questionable for the Eagles because now they would have had Vick through 2016, but he hasn't been as productive.

Celtics vs Bobcats

The Celtics lost their first game since losing Rondo to a torn MCL. They are currently 7-1 without him. This comes as a surprise because Rondo is their best player, but now Boston is playing with a sense of urgency. The Celtics know that they must move the ball and play as a team to win this year, and until this loss to the worst team in the L, they had done that.

Micheal Bourn

Micheal Bourn has agreed to a deal that will send him to the Cleveland Indians. The deal is worth 4 years and 48 million dollars. This isn't the first big deal they had with a good free agent this off season, they also had a deal with Nick Swisher worth also 4 years but 58 million dollars. Look for the Indians to be a pretty good team this year as there not perfect but they have some players that could really get this team some attention.

Crazy 5 OT Game

Saturday Night the # 25 Notre Dame Fighting Irish squared off against the #11 team in the nation, Louisville Cardinals. Both of these teams have been getting criticism about if they are "for real" teams or competitors when March Madness comes around. Through the whole game neither team could pull away and in the end of regulation the score stood 60-60. In 1st overtime tied at 68, Russ Smith could not hit the long three to end 1st overtime. Next, in 2nd overtime Notre Dame's Gaurd/Forward Pat Connaughton Drained a 3 to tie it up at 75 with 15 seconds left. Louisville could not capitalize and were found going into another OT. In 3rd overtime #11 guard for Notre Dame drove for a score to take the lead by 1. Louisville would hit a free throw at the end. In 4th overtime Notre dame would find themselves down 93-91 as time started to run low. Charging for the basket Eric Adkins would lose grip of the ball as it sailed toward the crowd. Amazingly, the #2 forward would save the ball from going out. Almost instantly Zach Auguste put up a hook shot that would hit the rim and and miss. Some how the ball would be tipped twice and forced in. As Crazy as it sounds Notre Dame tied it at 93 and with 5 seconds left Russ Smith again lost the ball and could not make the three. The two teams were going into there 5th overtime. With About 8 seconds left Louisville drove down the court down 104-101. Again it was Russ Smith taking the shot, and again it was Russ Smith missing the shot. The ball went out of bounds and fans rushed the court. Notre dame wins, 104-101 Final, 5ot

Upset Alert

This week the number 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 teams fell to unranked teams. #1 Indiana fell to Illinois 74-72,  #2 Florida fell to Arkansas 80-69, #5 Kansas fell to TCU 62-55, Kansas also fell to Oklahoma 66-72. Wisconsin defeated #3 Michigan 65-62 in OT after Ben Brust hit a game tying 3 pointer from 5 feet ahead of half court to send it into OT. Cal also beat #7 Arizona 77-69. #4 Duke squeezed out a W against Boston College in OT also. This week was a great week in college basketball.

Illinois beats Indiana in a thriller

Once again the number 1 team falls. This time it was Indiana on top once again and again they can't hang on to it. Going into halftime Indiana had a promising 41-29 lead over the tough and surprisingly unranked team. The second half fell apart for the Hoosiers. Illinois outscored IU in the second half 45-31. Worst part about the last point, it was a buzzer beater. With 0.9 seconds left in the game Indiana left the basket open and let the pass go right to Tyler Griffey who laid it in to win the game.

Felix Hernandez

Felix Hernandez After Throwing His No Hitter Last Year
Felix Hernandez from the Seattle Mariners has signed a contract extension with the Seattle Mariners worth 135 Million Dollars. This is one of the biggest money making deals for any Pitchers of all time. He will make an annual amount of 27.5 million, this is the second largest amount. The highest amount for an annual salary was 28 million by Roger Clemens. This most likely means to me that the Seattle Mariners want to keep Felix in Seattle for his whole career. He deserves this extension as he has been one of the best pitchers for a while now.

Heart Breaker in Ann Arbor

The game down to the final 7 seconds of the game after Aaron Craft missed the mid range jumper. Ohio State was still down by 1 with Michigan at the Free Throw line. He made the first and missed the second and    OSU still had a timeout with the 7 seconds but they didn't use it. Craft again raced down the floor trying to be the hero by tying the game but then again he was blocked by Tim Hardaway JR. to loose the game. Final score 76-74 Michigan win.

Steve Nash

Happy 39th Birthday to Steve Nash. He has had a decent season this year, and it will probably be one of his last. As of right now Nash's Lakers are losing to the Celtics 95-69 at the end of the 3rd, after a great Celtics run.

KG reaches 25K

Kevin Garnett has reached 25,000 points. That's good enough for 16th on the all-time list. He also has 10,000 career boards, 5K assists, and 1,500 blocks and steals. He is the only player ever to have those numbers. With those numbers KG climbs a couple spots on my top 100 list.

Lakers are a mess

Yesterday the LA Lakers learned that Pau Gasol will be out 4-6 weeks after he injured his foot against the Nets. Now both Pau and Dwight are out. Dwight should be back soon, but for now LA will most likely start backup center Robert Sacre (a Gonzaga grad) and Earl Clark. Clark has been playing well lately but he is no Pau or Dwight...

Ryan Braun

Ryan Braun has been again been accused of dealing with a business that had reportedly been dealing out PED's. Ryan Braun Said this in a statement that he put out "My lawyers only went there to consult with him during the investigation last year". I hope that Ryan Braun will not get suspended for any games for this matter. If he does I think the Milwaukee Brewers will be in trouble as they would have lost Corey Hart due to his knee surgery, but he will be back eventually. And they would have lost Ryan Braun too.

Houston lights out from 3 point range

Last night the Rockets made 23 threes last night in a rout. That ties the NBA record for three pointers made. The Rockets scored 77 points in the first half and scored 140 points the whole game. Jeremy Lin had 28 points as the Rockets rolled over the Warriors.

Super Bowl XLVII

Joe Flacco
This Super Bowl was one for the ages. Whether it was the Jacoby Jones 108 yard kickoff return TD or the power outage. This was definitely a GREAT Super Bowl. Joe flacco had 287 passing yards and 3 TDs. He won the Super Bowl XLVII MVP, he threw 11 TDs and 0 INTs in the playoffs. Kaepernick threw for 302 yards and a TD and a INT. Frank Gore had a solid 110 yards and 1 Touchdown his TD was a 33 yard run in the 2nd half. Anquan Boldin and Jacoby Jones each had a receiving TD and had a combined 160, along with some decent YAC.
The craziest thing about this Super Bowl was the power outage. It happened just after Jacoby Jones returned the opening 2nd half kick 108 yards for a TD. The power surge completely depleted the Ravens momentum. The players had to stay on the field during the whole 34 minute delay. The Ravens barely held on to win 34-31. This was definitely my favorite Super Bowl in a couple of years.

Trivia Question

Clue 1. Is number 33
Clue 2. Has played since 1994 and is still playing.
Clue 3. He played for the Magic, Pistons, Suns, and Clippers.
Clue 4. Won 2 championships at Duke

Ravens Win Super Bowl

Last night the Ravens won a thriller Super Bowl 34-31. Jacoby Jones had a 108 yard kickoff return at the beginning of the half. Also he had a outstanding receiving touchdown for 56 yards. After the power outage the 49ers outscored the ravens 25-6 but could not score on first and goal to take the lead. Joe Flacco was named MVP and the Ravens got their second Super Bowl win.

Super Bowl Confusion

The score of the Super Bowl is currently 28-6. Jacoby Jones has a TD catch (it was a great play on a bad throw), and a NFL record 109 Kickoff turn TD at the beginning of the 2nd half. The power has been out for about 30 mins and the game will be starting again shortly. We will get you all of the info about the whole game tomorrow.

Need to Know: San Jose Sharks unbeaten!

The San Jose Sharks is the only team with a 6-0-0 record. They are unbeaten with a stunned position as 1st in there division. They beat the Anaheim Ducks yesterday in a 3-2 SO (Shootout). The Ducks are 3-1-1 with 7 points and the Sharks have an outstanding record of 6-0-0 with 14 points! The best team in NHL is right here, the San Jose Sharks. Better than the Blackwaks right now. The Sharks have a tough next game as they face off against a 2-2-3 with 7 points Nashville Predator team. The Predators are in a slump right now but hope to seek out of it. The Ducks also have a good competition with the Minnesota Wild with a 4-2-2 record with 9 points.

Need to Know: Blackhawks lose to Wild

This amazing 6-0-0 Hawks team is on a roll right now. They faced off against another excellent team, The Minnesota Wild. They were tied up in the 3rd period at a score 2-2. They went into OT and noting happened. Then a SO (Shootout) Came into place as the Wild pulls out the win in a 3-2 after the shootout! The Blackwaks are now 6-0-1 with 1 SO loss with 13 points as the next game they play is against Vancouver Canucks with a 3-2-2 record with 8 points. They should win. The Minnesota Wild now have a record with a 4-2-1 record with only 9 points as they face off another good game against the Anaheim Ducks with a 3-1-1 record with 7 points. Both Minnesota and the Blackhawks should win next game.

Wacky Night in the NHL

On a night full of wacky stuff, you could hardly find a wackier game than the Buffalo Sabres 7-4 win over Northeast Division-leading Boston. The Sabres had been winless in four. At one point, they trailed the Bruins 3-1 after the teams went scoreless through the first period before combining for 11 goals in the final two periods. Thomas Vanek or who else? They paced the Sabres with three goals which he now has six and added two assists. The Bruins lost for the first time in regulation this season and, after allowing just 12 goals in their first six games, were kicked in the defensive shins.

Caleb Moore

Unfortunately some of the sports we play are dangerous-Football,baseball,hockey,etc..-and some times bad things happen, unfortunately  Caleb Moore died yesterday after a week after crashing in the X-Games. When he went off the jump he did a back flip and under turned his snow mobile clipped the ground, flipped and crushed his body and the vehicle rolled off him. He got brought to the hospital and stayed there until yesterday when he died. The crush from the blow gave him a concussion and later bleeding in the heart, and complications in the brain. ESPN is reviewing the safety regulations of the X-Games  and seeing if any can be improved. R.I.P Caleb Moore
