Rodgers Extension

Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers might be getting a record breaking deal this off-season, probably sooner than later. The two sides are very close to completing the deal that would set records. Inside sources said that the deal might be 25 million dollars a year. That would mean he would be the first player in NFL history to have 25 million a year. I hope they can get some kind of deal done because we all know that we would love to have Rodgers for his whole career

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Isaiah Thomas. Jack G. was correct.

1. This player won at least 1 NBA Season MVP.

2. He was both the smallest and lightest player to win the award.

3. He played for 4 NBA Teams.

Start or Sit them?

For anyone that does fantasy baseball I have a few players that I think are going to be a a good steal or just a bad pick.

Wilin Rosario- This is definitely an amazing steal. Drafted late in every draft Wilin Rosario has been producing, a lot of points. He will be a major steal in almost every league as I predict him to have a breakout season.

Albert Pujols- Although he is still drafted very early some people don't now how good he actually is. He is being still underrated due to his "down year"  if you can even call it that where he hit thirty over the wall and knocked in 105 RBI's

Tim Lincecum- Let's face it the usual Ace Tim Lincecum did not play up to par last year. But, he gets picked at about the 121 pick on average. So, if you need a late draft pitcher to throw into your lineup, put him in and he should be able to bounce back. Because only two years ago he was one of the best pitchers in the MLB.

Mike Trout- To me this is foolish, Mike Trout is the number one rated fantasy pick over people Miguel Cabrera and other superstars like Ryan Braun or Matt Kemp. Now I know he put up towering numbers last year but you can not pick him too early, like first pick! Definitely take a more trusted guy like Miguel Cabrera because Trout is only going on his second year.

Josh Johnson- This is a player I can't predict. He hasn't been doing well but is giving all the signs that he could be great. He is drafted about 75th overall on average and whoever gets him could either have one of the best steals of the season or a plain out loss.

Heat Lose

The Miami Heat's historic 27 game win streak has ended. The streak was second longest in NBA history. The Heat lost 101-97 against the Chicago Bulls. This was the first game Dwayne Wade was back from his injury. Lebron still posted decent numbers with 31 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks as he tried to rally back like in several of the games in the Heat's streak. Luol Deng had 28 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. He was a key piece in ending the Heat's great streak.

Big Ravens pick up

Yesterday the Ravens finally found their Ray Lewis replacement. They won the bid on signing Elvis Dumervil who just last year, played on the Broncos. After a botched paperwork situation in Denver, the Broncos had to release him which lead to this major signing for the Ravens. I'm expecting huge things from this team again this year.

Western Conference Playoffs

This year the Western Conference playoff race has been tight as it usually is. Although the Thunder are the favorites this year, there are many teams that could win a series or two and upset them if they are hot. The playoff picture goes as follows, (as of 3/25):
1.      San Antonio Spurs (53-17)
1.      Tony Parker is back (averaging 21 ppg, 7.6 apg before his injury) and ready to play so the Spurs should be able to hold onto their 1 and 1/2 game lead over the Thunder. Manu Ginobili is finally back and playing like himself again (averaging 12.1 ppg and 4.7 apg). Popavich is resting his guys and getting them ready for the playoffs as always. Duncan is holding down the paint for probably one of his last successful season he’s averaging 9.9 boards per game, and 17.3 points per game.

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Tim Brown, the running back for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. Jack G. was correct.

1. This player plays for a team in California but this player most likely won't play in California next year.

2. This player averages slightly (0-10 minutes) more than half a game of playing time.

3. This player has started 37 career games.

Hornets snap Nuggets win streak

Last night the New Orleans Hornets snapped the Nuggets 15 game win streak. The final was 110-86, Brian Roberts had 18 assists and 16 points. Danny Gallo dropped 24 but didn't contribute much else. The Nuggets got out rebounded by 13, and they only had 12 fast break points. Ryan Anderson also put in 23 and snatched 9 boards for the Hornets.

Wrong Or Right?

Yesterday Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith was fired. Right off the Minnesota loss to a great team in Florida. I don't think this is a good idea because Tubby Smith is a good coach. Also he upseted UCLA in the second round of the tournament. I think change is good for the gophers but not not their coach maybe some of the players.

Brewers Sign Kyle Lohse

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed veteran Kyle Lohse to a 3 year, 33 million dollar deal. This is good news to hear for Brewers fans as their starting staff have been called young and inexperienced, but now add a veteran to the mix and their starting pitchers might actually be pretty dangerous. This is my projected lineup for the brew crew when they kick the season off next week.

Hitters:
RF Norichika Aoki
2B Rickie Weeks
LF Ryan Braun
3B Aramis Ramirez
C Jonathon Lucroy
CF Carlos Gomez
1B Alex Gonalez
SS Jean Segura

Starting Rotation:
1.Yovani Gallardo
2.Kyle Lohse
3.Macro Estrada
4.Mike Fiers
5.Chris Narverson

UPSET ALERT

#15 seed Florida Gulf Coast just defeated #2 seed Georgetown 78-68. Otto Porter Jr. had a bad game
(5-17 shooting), and FGCU just ran them out of the gym. Sherwood Brown (FGCU's star player) had a great game. He had 24 points, and 9 boards. FGCU's point guard (Bernard Thompson) had 23 points, and 10 assists.
I tried to get photos but it wouldn't let me save them, so here is a link to the photo gallery on ESPN.

March is defintely here

Today #5 seeded Wisconsin lost to #12 seeded Ole Miss, and #4 seed K-State lost to #13 seed La Salle (La Salle beat Boise State in a play in game). So that means that there will be a 13-12 matchup in the round of 32. The tournament is already lopsided.

UPSET ALERT

Wisconsin trails Ole Miss by 4 with 1:55 remaining in the second half  UPDATE: Wisconsin Badgers fall to Ole Miss 57-46 in a bad game by the Badgers missing shot after shot with 5:00 minutes left in the game. This is no suprise to me as Ole Miss was rolling and the Badgers have struggles when they are down deep into the game. For all of you that picked Wisconsin to go to the elite eight (like me) now your brackets will be messed up because of this upset.

Nuggets rally

Last night the Nuggets rallied late to beat the 76ers 100-101. Jrue Holiday did his part for the 76ers with 18 points, 15 assists, 4 steals, and 6 rebounds. Corey Brewer played very well for the Nuggets though, with 29 points and 5 steals. The Nuggets now have 14 straight W's.

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Demaryius Thomas. Adam N. got the answer right.

1. She shares a birthday with a famous basketball player.

2. This athlete shares his birthday with the person US Skier Lindsey Vonn is dating.

3. Her dad is more famous than she is.

Thank you to all of our viewers for helping us get to 9K views. You guys are great. There will be a prize for the 10,000th viewer, we will figure it out soon. Also keep viewing for March Madness posts.

Thank Goodness it's March

In one day of March Madness a 4 seed went down,  two 5 seeds lost, a one seed almost lost, there has been a buzzer beater and two teams won by 46+. What is really better than that. Last night 14 Harvard took on a strong physical 3 New Mexico team. Harvard with huge help from Laurent Rivard and Wesley Saunders beat New Mexico by 6. Then 12 Oregon played 5 Oklahoma St.Coming out with a double digit lead at half Oregon slowed down the pace and proved that the Pac12 is a good conference. Final score 68 to 55 as Oregon takes it. After that 14 Davidson faced 3 Marquette at Lexington. Surprisingly Davidson was leading at half and by 6 with one minute left. After a few threes from Vander Blue, Junior Cadogan, and Jamil Wilson Marquette was down by 4 with 13 seconds left. Jamil Wilson hit a clutch three with 10 seconds left. Then Davidson turned the ball over with 5 seconds left. Vander Blue then lead the Golden Eagles to the win with a game winning buzzer beating left handed layup.

My (Jack's) bracket

I have Cuse winning it all in a tight game vs Duke. Ryan Kelly will go for 20, but Triche will counter with 15, along with 5 threes from Southerland.

Heat Extend Streak to 24

Last night, the Heat beat the Cavilers 98-95. At one point, the Cavs had a 27 point lead. However, Lebron did not want to lose to his former team. James posted a triple-double with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. He also had 3 steals and 2 blocks. For the Cavs, Tyler Zeller recorded 11 rebounds and 12 points. The Heat started their comeback in the middle of the third quarter. They scored 64 points in the second half. The Heat have the second longest winning streak in NBA history.

Bears and Urlacher Part Ways

Yesterday, the Bears stopped attepmting to sign Brian Urlacher. Urlacher wanted a 2 year, 11.5 million dollar deal. The Bears however, will not willing to pay that to their veteran LB. Urlacher has played his entire career in Chicago but will now be looking for a new team. He is 34 and has played 13 years in the NFL. Although his career has been filled with injuries, Urlacher shouldn't worry about finding a team.

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Russell Wilson. Jack G. and Matt M.got it right.

1. This player was born on a official holiday.

2. This player has caught less than 150 balls in his NFL career.

3. This player has only played on one NFL team but has caught a pass from 4 QBs.

4. This player way in between 225 and 250 pounds.

Kentucky loses... Again

#1 seeded Kentucky lost to #8 seeded Robert Morris in the first round of the NIT tournament. Archie Goodwin was clothes-lined by Lucky Jones, who got a flagrant 2. That pumped up UK but it still wasn't enough to get them the W. This caps off a disappointing season for the Wildcats.

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Shane Battier. Charlie K., Adam N., and Matt M. got the answer correct.

1. This player was drafted in the fourth round by the team in Colorado (sorry I had to say that because of auto correct).

2. He has four rushing touchdowns in his NFL career. Three came in the same week.

3. He is 5 feet and 11 inches.

Brewers still considering right-hander Kyle Lohse?

It is starting to seem less and less likely that Kyle Lohse will have a new team come opening day but are the Brewers still in the running for him? Besides Yovani Gallardo and Marco Estrada the Brewers are set to have a lot of young, unproven pitchers on the mound like Mike Fiers, Chris Narveson, and Willy Paralta as they seem to be the top candidates to be in the pitching rotation. So signing an ace like Lohse would be huge for the Brewers. Most anyone can predict that the Brewers wont be very competitive in the N.L. Central if they stick with the rotation the are set with right now. The only other discouraging fact for the Brewers other than that Lohse still wants that "Big" Three-year deal is that they would be giving up there 17th overall pick in the draft. Not to mention the last two times they signed multi-year deals with pitchers over 30 referring to Jeff  Suppan and Randy Wolf. Still, Lohse who is 34 is coming off the best season of his career with a 2.86 ERA, and a 3.76 K/BB ratio meaning he averages almost 4 strikeouts before1 walk in 211 innings with 33 starts while going 16-3 for the Cards.

Kyle Lohse

Upset Predictions

These are some of my upsets through out the whole NCAA tournament.

  • 12 Ole Miss over 5 Wisconsin
  • 12 Oregon over 5 Oklahoma State
  • 11 Belmont over 6 Arizona
  • 11 Bucknell over Butler
  • 11 Minnesota over UCLA
  • 5 VCU to the Elite 8
  • 6 Memphis to the Elite 8
  • 8 Pitt over 9 Wichita St and over 1 Gonzaga

Ole Miss coming right off a SEC tournament championship.

Heat comeback to extend streak

The Miami Heat were down 17 at one point in the game but made a comeback to beat the Celtics 105-103. Jeff Green kept the Celtics in it by scoring 43 points, while James also had a great game with 37 points, 12 assists, and 7 rebounds. The Celtics had way too many turnovers (21), they allowed 17 points off of those turnovers. The biggest moment of the game was probably James posterization of Jason Terry. Lebron got T'd up for a stare down of Terry, but the play still created momentum for the Heat. Ray Allen was also booed whenever he touched the ball on offense. Neither squad shot more than 67% from the line, and it was a sloppy but very entertaining game to watch. The Heat have now won 23 in a row good enough for 2nd all time.

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Luis Scola. Adam N., Charlie K., and Jack G. got the answer right.

Today's puzzle is harder than normal.

1. He lead the league in scoring some point in the 2012-13 NBA season.

2. He has played for a total of 3 teams.

3. He was drafted by Vancouver.

4. He has only played a complete 82 game season.

His is his child:

Uh Oh...

Mark Texiera of the New York Yankees announced that his injury might not be just a strained wrist tendon but it might be something more serious and might need more time to heal, he could also possibly be out for the rest of the season because of this. This is bad news for the Yankees as they will already are going to have    a hard time without him and still ok player in A-Rod. I think in the months that he is gone they will be below .500.

Mid Off-Season NFL Playoff projections

AFC:
1. Broncos: For me, this is a no-brainer. The Broncos had an incredible team last season, and now they have signed Wes Welker and Dominique Rogers-Cromartie. The Broncos are my favorite to win it all. Record: 14-2

2. Texans: They put together a great run last year and they will only get better over time. Record: 13-3

3. Colts: The Colts made the playoffs last year with a team they had just put together. The team will bond well and flourish this season. Record: 12-4

4. Patriots: Although they lost Welker and Talib, They will still make the playoffs with Tom Brady. Record: 11-5

5. Bengals: Andy Dalton and A.J. Green will hook up for 1800 yards and breeze into the playoffs. Record: 10-6

6. Ravens: Ray Rice will have a powerful season and lead the Ravens into the playoffs. Joe Flacco will have an off season. Record: 10-6

NFC:
1. Seahawks: Now that that Harvin has arrived in Seattle, Russell Wilson will have a strong receiving core. Record: 13-3

2. 49ers: Colin Kaepernick will continue to do his thing, now with Boldin. Record: 12-4

3. Lions: Adding Reggie Bush is a great fit. Lions will be next to unstoppable. Record: 12-4

4. Redskins: RG3 will miss a lot of the seaso but Kirk Cousins will lead the team to victory. Record: 11-5

5. Saints: Drew Brees will lead the Saints to the playoffs are show Roger Godell that even he can't stop them. Record: 10-6

6. Bears: Brandon Marshall will set a record for most receptions in a season when he leads the Bears to the playoffs. He will also break his own record of 21 receptions in a game. Record:10-6

Super Bowl: Broncos over Seahawks- 31-27

Wild night in the NBA

Last night there were some great games in the NBA, some bad ones, and even a couple of historic ones. First we'll start with the Heat-Sixers matchup. The 76ers have had a disappointing season to say the least. Louis Williams (he is currently out with a torn ACL) left them in free agency to go to the Hawks last year, although Jrue Holiday is having an all-star season the rest of the squad is disappointing. They did give the Heat a scare though in their 98-94 loss last night. The Heat extended their streak to 20 games tying the 1970-71 Bucks for the 3rd best winning streak (The 2007-08 Rockets have a 22 game streak and the '71-'72 Lakers have 33 wins). LBJ and D-Wade combined for 48 points, 11 assists, and 15 boards. On the 76ers side Holiday played 43 minutes in a non-overtime game, scoring 21 points and picking up 7 AST's and 7 boards. He was also the only Phili starter to not have 4+ fouls. Philadelphia gave Miami a scare but they couldn't pull it off.
For the not so interesting games, Milwaukee faced off against Washington in a 93-106 loss for an 8th place Bucks squad. Monta had 26 points while Jennings had 10 assists. John Wall had a double-double with 23 and 10 dimes. The Bucks were down by 16 at the half but then they outscored Washington 34-15 in the 3rd, but the Wizards came right back and dropped 31 in the 4th and only allowed 15. The Pacers blew out the Timberwolves 91-107. Rubio had 21 and 10, while Hibbert had 27 and 12 boards for the Pacers. The Rockets beat the suns by 30. A rook on the Rockets named Motiejunas scored a career high and a team high in the game 19 points. Nobody on the Suns had more than 5 boards, which could be the reason for their loss. The Thunder took care of business against the Jazz whose losing streak is now 5, which is opening the window for the Lakers even more. The final was 110-87, Durant had 23 and 10 despite having a disappointing 0 point 0-2 start in the first 11:56 of the game (he had a three point play with 3.2 seconds to go in the quarter). The Kings blew out the Bulls 121-79. Tyreke Evans had 26 and 7, while no Bull had more than 4 ASTs. The Pistons fell to the Warriors by 8. Steph Curry had 31 and 8, while Stuckey had 22 points for the Pistons. Maxiell also chipped in 14 rebounds. The NYK lost in Denver to the Nuggets 94-117. New York was playing without Amare (He is out for 5 more weeks), and with an 80% healthy Melo according to Melo himself. The Knicks are sliding in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, although it looked like they would have a 2 seed at the beginning of the year. Finally the Grizzlies beat the Clippers 96-85. CP3 had 24 and 9, while Lamar Odom led LAC in rebounding with 8. Marc Gasol had 21 and Mike Conley had 11 assists.
Now for the other interesting games. LAL lost to Atlanta 92-96. Kobe hobbled off the court in the final seconds of last nights game with what appeared to be an ankle injury (he is questionable for the Lakers next game, although it is Kobe so questionable usually means probable). Kobe still did have 31 points though, while Dwight grabbed 16 boards but only had 10 points. Devin Harris helped the Hawks get the W scoring 17 points and dropping 7 dimes.
In one of the best games of the night the Celtics beat the Raptors 88-112, but KG had 20 points and 7 boards. Pierce had 15 points on 3-6 shooting. The important part of this game was the fact that KG moved up to 15th on the all time scoring list passing Jerry West, and Paul moved up to 20th on the all time scoring list passing Sir Charles. Overall it was a great night last night in the NBA

Kings Krushing?

As there days might be fading away the Kings crushed the bulls last night. The Kings scored a whopping 121 points and only let the Bulls score 79. Tyreke Evans had 26 points and 7 assists. Also Isaiah Thomas came up with 22 points. The Kings did this without their star player Demarcus Cousins.

Free Agency

Check out the NFL page for recent and big free agent finds and new rumors.

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Danny Amendola. Charlie K. and Adam N. got the answer correct.

1. In 2005, this player had 27 receptions, 433 yards, and 6 TDs.

2. He has played in two Super Bowls.

3. His longest career run is 29 yards.

4. He ran a 4.59 on the 40 yard dash.

Howard dominates in his return to Orlando

Dwight Howard had an amazing 39 point 16 board and an additional 3 blocks in his first game back in Orlando. The Magic used the Hack-A-Howard strategy and Howard attempted 39 free throws, and he incredibly made 25 (which for you non-math junkies is 64.1 % [his season average is 48%]). Kobe had a measly 11 points, but he did add 8 assists, and 7 boards. For the Magic Tobias Harris had 17 points and 15 boards. Most people expected Dwight to not play as well in his return to Orlando but he definitely proved them wrong.
Here is a billboard that Power 95.3 payed for.

AOTD

Yesterday's answer was Ray Allen. Jack G. and Adam N. got this answer.

1. This Wide Receiver is currently a free agent.

2. He was a rookie in 2008 but did not play until 2009. At the Draft Combine, he ran a 4.58 on the 40 yard dash.

3. He has 7 TDs on 196 receptions.

4. He is known as Wes Welker Part 2 because they attend the same college and both were undrafted. He is only 2 inches taller and 3 pounds heavier than Welker.

Comeback for the Ages

In a best out of five series in the Champions League quarterfinals, AC MIlan had a 2 games to none lead over FC Barcelona. Not only that, Milan had a total goal advantage of 5-0. Today, Lionel Messi and Barca capped the historic comeback with a 4-0 win over AC Milan. Messi scored two goals and assisted the two goals by David Villa and Jordi Albi. This was the first time in the FIFA history. The final point difference was 8-7. FC Barcelona will advance to the semifinals.

AOTD

1. He was a rookie in the 1996-97 season. In that season he played in every game and started 81 of them.

2. He has shot .401 from three point in his career.

3. This shooting guard has played for 4 teams in his career. This is his first year on his current team.

Big Trades?

This week Percy Harvin unexpectedly got traded to the Seahawks. This gives the Seahawks a very good chance of going deep in the playoffs. I don't understand why the Vikings traded their best reciever. Also Anquan Boldin got traded to the 49ers. After just winning the Super Bowl I would think the Ravens will regret this deeply.

Lakers take the 8th seed

The LA Lakers took the 8th spot in the West last night in a win over the Bulls. The final was 90-81. Dwight Howard had 16 points and 21 boards to go along with 4 blocks. Joakim Noah had 18 points and 17 boards for the Bulls. Kobe had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists. Neither squad shot better than 25 % from 3. The Lakers stole the 8th spot from the Jazz. The Lakers have won 3 straight, and the Jazz lost 4 in a row. Including a loss against Cleveland in the final seconds.

Thunder Edge Knicks

Last night the Thunder beat the Knicks 95-94. The Knicks were playing without Carmelo and almost won. J.R. Smith had a great game and almost won the game with a buzzer beater. The Knicks are now 37-22.

Big East to change name

The Big East football schools (Connecticut, Cincinnati, ect.) are most likely to change the name of the conference to the American 12 Conference. The Catholic schools (Georgetown, Marquette, etc.) are still most likely leaving the conference. Answer the poll on the right side bar about how you feel about this.

Rivera Retiring

Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees will announce this Saturday that he plans on retiring after this coming season. This is no surprise to me as he is in his low to mid forties and his body is getting older and older. He has been one of the best closer's of all time and it will be sad when he retires after this 2013 season. Hopefully the Yanks can pull off one last playoff appearance for Rivera, but even that is looking less and less likely because of their injured team.

Miami extends their streak

The Miami Heat were down by 1 with 18 seconds left in regulation, and they gave the ball to the one and only LBJ. He was working on single coverage and got to the rack with 3.2 seconds left and layed it in. Jameer Nelson tried to get a shot off from half court but it fell short. The Heat skidded past the Magic by only 1 point.

Ibaka Fined for hit on Griffin

Sunday night Serge Ibaka and Blake Griffin were battling for a rebound when all the sudden Serge just hits Blake Griffin in the groin. It was a very stupid play by Ibaka as he has just been fined $25,000 for a play that could have been prevented. Surprisingly Serge didn't get any talks about being suspended for the cheap shot.

Wes Welker to Test Free Agency

This year Wes Welker will not sign with the Patriots yet. A league source says that he will first test out Free Agency to see if there are better deals for him. The Patriots were offering a franchise tag which would have raised his salary 20% but I don't think Wes is very happy.

My Top Ten Cinderella Stories.

By: Charlie K.
10. The 2007 Colorado Rockies-
Like every year, the Colorado Rockies weren't in very good shape going into the final moth of the regular season as they were trailing the San Diego Padres for a wild card spot. Some how, they went on to win 13 of their last 14 games and snatched a win in the tiebreaker against the Padres. Onc in the playoffs they swept the Phillies and the Diamondbacks in the NLDS and NLCS. The Rockies couldn't pull it off though as they lost to the Red Sox in the World Series that year.
9. The 2008 Tampa Bay Rays
Before 2008 Tampa Bay hadn't ever finished even above .500 so nobody was giving them a chance. They went on to not only win there division but get to the World Series by sweeping the White Sox and beating the Red Sox in game seven. Like the Rockies though, they lost the game.
8. The Milan High school Hoosiers
Most people know the great Hoosiers story. It happened in 1954, when all sized schools played in the same division. With only 164 students in the whole school, Milan is he smallest school to ever win a state championship in Indiana. The next day 40,000 people were there to congratulate Milan, an overwhelming number considering Milan's population was just over 1,000.
7. 2008 Davidson Basketball
Led by star player, Stephen Curry, the Wildcats made a march for the elite eight in the 2008 March Madness Tournament. Although some expected them to do well no one expected them to smash the third seeded Wisconsin 73-56. They went on to the Elite Eight and almost beat the eventual number one seeded champions Kansas.
6.The 2004 and 2007 Iraqi Soccer team
The 2004 Iraqi Team was exactly the boost Iraq needed. After leaving their war-torn country, going into the Olympics they came playing with heart and pride. After barley getting in they shocked the world with an 4-2 upset over Portuguese. They went on to win the pool an.d go into the medal round. They didn't win the medal but they went on the win the 2007 Asia cup.
5. 1969 New York Mets
After starting the season at 21-23 they got Red-Hot and ended the season with a 100-62 season record that year. Winning the division, and having their first winning season ever. Their next test was the World series as they were ging up against the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles who went 109-53 in the Regular season. The Mets won  the World Series in only 5 games stunning the world.
4.2008 Fresno Baseball Team
Before 2008 Fresno had never won a D.1 sports title ever. They somehow advanced by winning the WAC championship and came in as the 4 seed. (which is like a 13 seed in basketball).Somehow they made it to the World Series in Omaha by facing elimination 6 times (three times in the world series) and winning all those 6 times to finally take home a Championship.
3. 1966 Texas Western Basketball
Going into the 1965-66  season Texas didn't have much  expectations and they had just hired a girls basketball coach Don Haskins and had virtually nothing to work with he was told he would be lucky to put a decent team on the court. Haskins set out recruiting and came back with seven black players that didn't go over very well in the deep south. Nevertheless, the Miners shocked the country going 23-1 in the regular season. After advancing to the NCAA season the won a stunner winning 81-80 in 2 OT. In the championship Haskins played only the black players and won 72-65.
2. 1980 US Men's Olympic Hockey team
This team, coached by Herb Brooks, was a very young team of college players that weren't even supposed to make the medal  round in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. After shockingly advancing they were set to play Societ Union, who they had lost to 10-3 only days before the Olympics. The Soviets haven't lost since the 1960 Olympics. With the crowd behind them, and the "USA" chant going. Jimmy Craig had a stellar play to hold on to a 3-2 win. Two days later U.S. won the gold medal against Finland.
1. 2006 George Mason Basketball
Who can forget George Mason. After winning a school record 23 games in the regular season, Jim Larranaga's Patriots didn't really know what to expect. Nobody, probably not even them could predict what would happen next They entered as an 11 seed and caught America's attention by beating #6 Michigan in the first round. Then they captured their hearts by beating the #3 North Carolina in the next round. In the Sweet Sixteen they beat Witchita State and went on to the Elite Eight to some how beat the #1  Connecticut. Eventually, they didn't win the tournament but still n one will ever forget the amazing Cinderella story of the 2006 George Mason Basketball team.

Falcons release 3 to clear CAP space

The Falcons have released RB Michael Turner, DE John Abraham, and CB Dunta Robinson. This cleared lots of CAP room for Atlanta as Michael Turner had a $6.4 mil contract, John Abraham had a $5.75 mil contract, and Dunta Robinson had a $3.75 mil contract. This could help the Falcons depending where they draft or if they are targeting other respectable players. Otherwise this could turnout to be one of the biggest wastes this off season.

Virginia Upsets Duke

Last night Joe Harris had a huge night with 36 points as Virginia pulled off the upset against Duke. Duke could not stop Joe Harris as the Cavaliers beat Duke by 5 points. I think Duke might drop down a few spots and this will help Virginia case to get into the tournament.
